Ustawi Educate

First is the use of discovered knowledge to create online certification courses directed towards people interested in learning how to gain access to the emerging and frontier markets. Ustawi creates 8-week modules for each course. A qualified facilitator manages each course. Facilitators of Ustawi courses hold graduate degrees from accredited universities around the world. In this way, Ustawi works as an academic institution. Course completers receive a certificate of completion. Ustawi also offers internships and fellowships. Interns must successfully complete at least four 8-week module courses. Fellows must complete at least eight 8-week module courses. Otherwise stated, Ustawi internship lasts approximately one year, while the fellowship lasts approximately two years.

Ustawi Applied Proper

Second is the use of the discovered knowledge to provide consulting services to industrial clients in different countries. Ustawi pursues collaboration with industrial organizations seeking to set foot and grow in emerging and frontier markets. For example, many American corporate owners may not fully understand how to enter into various markets in Africa profitably and remain socially responsible. Ustawi uses the discovered knowledge to help American corporate owners ease into a given frontier market country, and find local partners to collaborate. For example, to facilitate the design of the world-class health care system in Akwa Ibom state in Nigeria, Ustawi is working with several American organizations to help them enter into frontier market.

Ustawi Applied Key Qualifications

Design, Development, Implementation, and Post Implementation Management of Academic Medical Centers

Ustawi Applied helps to establish medical universities, or academic medical centers (AMCs). An AMC has three major components (a) a research component, (b) an education component, and (c) health services delivery component. Ustawi follows theoretical and operational foundations based on the Association of American Medical Colleges (AAMC) standards and guidelines. Besides providing treatment for its patients, an academic medical center collaborates with stakeholders in conducting research to discover new cures, treatments, and improving patient care outcomes. Ustawi Applied is focused on evidence-based design of academic medical centers.

Ustawi helps with medical curriculum development and competencies accreditation of academic medical centers. Ustawi Applied formulates a curriculum based on prevailing medical education standards, and the needs of the nation. Ustawi helps to create a curriculum framework for teaching medical students and residents based on the following principles:

  • Developing new knowledge and using empirical testing useful in professional practice.
  • Stakeholder accountability by understanding of the local, regional, national, and global social contexts of health care, including health care financing.
  • Professional subject matter expertise development of health professional knowledge applicable for a specific disciplines and domains in core competencies published by professional boards, accrediting organizations, and other certifying entities.

Design work involves completion of 13 modules for each of the three major components of an AMC (Table 1). Thus, 13 modules for the design of the research component, 13 modules for the design of the education component, and 13 modules for the design of the health services delivery component.
